"I've read Goodnight Moon in at least seven accents."— Maya, Nurture Sitter
People you'd trust with the most important job in your house.
We don't hire bodies to fill a calendar. Every Nurture sitter is chosen because they genuinely love kids — and it shows within five minutes.

"I've read Goodnight Moon in at least seven accents."
Maya Okonkwo
I'm a second-year early childhood ed major who genuinely believes glitter glue solves most problems. I show up with a bag full of crafts, a playlist of made-up songs, and at least three bedtime story voices. My favorite part of any evening is the moment a shy kid decides I'm okay.
Specialties
"Maya turned what was supposed to be a quick dinner out into a three-hour adventure. Our daughter cried when she left — the good kind."
— Priya S. · San Francisco

"A good blanket fort fixes almost everything."
Tomás Reyes
I studied child development because I wanted to understand why kids do what they do — and then figure out how to make it more fun. I'm the sitter who teaches kids card tricks, builds elaborate blanket forts, and always has a backup plan when the first one falls apart. Calm under pressure is my thing.
Specialties
"Tomás had both our boys in bed by 8 without a single argument. I don't know what he said but I need to learn it."
— James & Keiko M. · Oakland

"Shoulders dropping on the way to the car — that's the win."
Nneka Adeyemi
I'm training to be a pediatric nurse and I've been around kids my whole life — I'm the eldest of five. I know the difference between a real owie and a dramatic one, I can do a French braid in under four minutes, and I make a mean grilled cheese. Parents leave the house and I can see their shoulders drop on the way to the car. That's the whole job.
Specialties
"As a single mom I'm picky about who I let into our home. Nneka felt like family within twenty minutes. My son asks for her by name now."
— Danielle F. · San Jose
We know you'd ask these questions.
So we answer them first.
Every Nurture sitter clears a process most agencies call "thorough" and we call "the minimum." Here's exactly what happens before anyone sets foot in your home.
Multi-Layer Background Check
Every sitter clears a national criminal background check, sex offender registry review, and identity verification before their first visit. No exceptions, ever.
CPR & First Aid Certification
All sitters hold current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications from the American Red Cross. We re-verify every 24 months.
In-Person Interview & Trial Visit
Every sitter goes through a 60-minute in-person interview with our team, followed by a supervised trial visit before they ever go solo.
Reference Verification
We personally call three references — including at least two families they've cared for — and ask the same questions you'd want answered.
Ongoing Training Program
Our sitters attend quarterly workshops on child development, age-appropriate activities, and emergency response — because the best people keep getting better.
Real-Time Parent Updates
You'll get a text when your sitter arrives and a brief recap when you're on your way home — not surveillance, just the reassurance you've earned.
Still have questions? We love that.

Real evenings.
Real relief.
Every review below came from a parent who was skeptical first. That's the point.
"I'm a solo mom and I haven't had a real evening to myself in nine months. Nurture felt less like a service and more like calling in a favor from a really capable friend.

Danielle F.
Single mom of one · 3 yrs old · San Jose, CA
"Both kids were in bed before we got home. The house was tidy, there was a handwritten note about what they ate, and a drawing my daughter made for the sitter. I cried a little."

James & Keiko M.
Oakland, CA
"We moved here from Chicago six months ago and don't have family nearby. Finding Nurture felt like finding the grandparent my kids didn't know they needed."

Priya S.
San Francisco, CA
"We've had four different sitters from Nurture over six months. Every single one has been incredible. It's not luck — it's clearly how they hire."

Marcus & Tanya B.
Parents of three · Ages 1, 4 & 9 · Berkeley, CA
